Dumpling Story

"Dumplings were on the menu and my mind today"

"Were they the best dumplings I ever had? No, not really"

Dumplings were on the menu and my mind today, and with a new branch of Dumpling Story opened in Pacific Heights, I decided to see if it was any good. Upon arrival I had to wait and ‘check in,’ this was a little bit hectic and not my style, but I waited anyway for a table outside because the inside looked cramped. I was seated after a while of standing up and waiting and I was given a menu to write on to tick off my preferred options. I chose the dry cooked green beans, vegetable dumpling and chicken Xiao long bao. The green beans were good, hot, tasty, and crisp still holding their bite, no sign of them being overcooked.

For the chicken Xiao long bao, I found this too watery with a liquid coming out of each one and there was a random carrot in my basket… I am sure that wasn’t part of my food… Perhaps the liquid was intentional, but it wasn’t to my taste. It felt sloppy and unrefined. The steamed vegetable dumpling was attractive looking, perfectly sealed, and crimped, the filling was full within the dumpling, and it had good height. It passed I guess but I wasn’t completely overjoyed with them.

Were they the best dumplings I ever had? No, not really but it was interesting to try this out and spend another lunch time in Pacific Heights. This was just curiosity and a one-time visit.

Be super casual, A pair of jeans and a cap is enough.
