"An impressive table with a unique view of the Duomo straight ahead "

"I would love to come back"

I got lost trying to find this restaurant! It’s on the top floor overlooking the Piazza Del Duomo, with stunning views of the Duomo itself, however not entirely on its own, nestled within other operations in the building, which you had to walk through to get to the restaurant. This spoiled the journey to the destination. When I got there though the place emitted an interesting energy, the dining room was rustic, slightly industrial, and cool, it just would have been better in its own surroundings.

I had an impressive table with a unique view of the Duomo straight ahead and this put me in a good mood for the lunch- Not a bad start. I was handed a menu, and I instantly liked what I saw on it, I was hungry and ready to eat well. A welcome snack and crackers were put on the table and then the starter came shortly afterwards.

I chose the roasted mushrooms in mushroom sauce, tarragon, and chilli pepper. The texture of the mushrooms was wonderful, and I liked the way this dish was prepared as a whole, the sauces complementary. The bread that I received had a crumb showing some excellent air bubbles, light as air with a crisp, golden crust, easily falling apart when you eat it.

There was a special of freshly made pasta and white truffle on the menu and this is exactly what I wanted; this is what you come to Italy for. It was so delicate, the pasta made perfectly, and the size of the strands were exactly right. It gave the correct mouth feel when you tasted each bite. The truffle was highlighted within a simple combination that always works, and it was smelling divine, an excellent product.

For dessert I took the UVA (Fresh grape salad in a strawberry grape extract, ginger, and lemon). They told me that they didn’t have some of the ingredients and would change it slightly which was fine by me. I tried to keep the end to my meal light, but this was a mistake as I wasn’t staying true to what I prefer. I wish I had taken the dark chocolate cake instead, because this didn’t do anything for me unfortunately.

I enjoyed my meal here, and I would love to come back to try some different dishes and another menu, I have a feeling it’s going to be a regular lunch place for me.

I think of Milanese design when I look around this dining room. Accents of wood, a concrete looking floor and lamps hanging by different wires from the ceiling. A smart Italian business suit wouldn’t look out of place here, neither would a casual black dress. Understated fashion is key here.
