Having already visited Damian (Part of the same group) We had a good feeling we would have more decent Mexican cuisine at ATLA. This is their casual offering placed in Venice Beach, you can pop in with its all-day dining menu, sure to satisfy any craving. Getting in the mood with some Mexican vibes, we ordered Mexican Coca Cola (It was one of those days) And started off with some toptopos and sesame salsa mâcha- Fried chiles, ginger, grape seed oil. They were of a decent quality arriving in a paper bag which was right for this restaurant. (The sauce for dipping on the side)
Next the Branzino a la talla- Branzino fillet, chile adobo, garlic oil, mustard greens, pineapple chilli vinegar, corn tortillas. The food as like Damian is good, this is a safe place to eat in LA. The flavourings on this dish all being excellent, the tortillas top notch and the fish cooked perfectly. The idea is to assemble your own tacos at the table. (Unlike in some restaurants this does work here looks wise and taste) We ate this quickly; it was perfect for a Sunday casual lunch on Abbot Kinney.
We did not eat a lot this time, but coming back for a casual dinner and trying out more food would be a possibility. Stick with this restaurant group because they are doing something right.
