"People are eager to come out and eat alone"

15 April, 2024

Newly opened in the area, I stopped by for a quick visit to see how it was. For a solo lunch today, I sat at the bar, looking forward to some quiet time. A lot has been said about solo diners these days, once seen as a weird thing to do, now more people are eager to come out and eat alone. It allows you to unwind and relax in your own company and do and eat what the hell you want. I find it a win win situation; I am all for eating alone because it allows me to focus and be calm to realign my thoughts. I see it for me as recharging my batteries. I wouldn’t say that the service was friendly here, it felt slightly self-important, but it wasn’t terrible, just so so.

I took a starter of red Sicilian prawn tartare, raspberry, and celery. This prawn is a nice one generally, the product is fantastic. Here in the tartare, it was sweet and soft you could taste the prawn. The raspberry and celery elements I had no interest in particularly.

I was shown the specials board and I decided to go in this direction to the halibut steak. It was a generous size on the bone, cooked perfectly. I ordered some asparagus on the side but unfortunately it was underwhelming, it wasn’t peeled, and I was chewing on the skin of it, being unpleasant, I left it.

No dessert today! That was it for this time and unfortunately the restaurant didn’t leave a lasting impression. It was interesting to stop by but a one time visit is all this place is for me.

This is your ultimate celebrity hotspot on Westbourne Grove to people watch. Sit outside and hide behind a large pair of sunglasses or take a seat at the bar. Look sharp with a white shirt and black suit jacket.
