Indian food in London is in abundance, there are a lot of offerings and to have another addition in Notting Hill is a good thing. I was not sure what to expect, the restaurant is small and a bit of a tight squeeze, going for lunch when it is slightly quieter would be the only enjoyable way for me. The jukebox brings an element of fun and cool, overall, the restaurant looked promising.
For my fleeting visit I started with the haryali fish tikka- Grilled stone bass marinated in coriander & green chilli served with desi coleslaw. Clean, flavoursome with added punch from the chilli, there was not an ounce of greasiness or heaviness. The fish was cooked well. This is the kind of dish that you choose when you want to be healthy, as well as having something delicious to eat, it tasted lean and nutritious at the same time.
This dish was not complete without ordering a garlic naan alongside and it was superb. Delightful air bubbles popping up around it all over the place, with an acceptable amount of char. The garlic and herbs were fresh and fragrant. The bread was served piping hot and with that recognisable chew. This is proper naan bread.
This is all I ordered to road test this place, there are often times that I do not want to order lots of food, because I do not want to waste if it is only me that is dining. I am not here to take photographs either of multiple dishes, just so I have something to show and post, and to see all the food go into the bin afterwards is not my style nor is it good for the world. It makes more sense to return and try another dish next time which is exactly what I will do here. I have my eye on the butter chicken, I have a feeling it is going to be epic…
