I had some of my freshest Greek mezedes plates at Mr Blue. The restaurant is inside The Galaxy Hotel in Petrothalassa. Slightly off the beaten path, it sits alone directly on the beach, offering ocean views for you to enjoy if you are staying there. Even if you’re not, you can walk in for a quick lunch if you wish — everybody is welcome. The service is fast, diligent, and swift, and if you do what we did (which was ordering too much food), you can ask to take it away and the staff will box it up for you. No waste to worry about, and you’ll have some nice leftovers to share with friends and family later!
The courgette fries were addictive — I found myself digging into the plate every couple of seconds. “These are nice, aren’t they?” was the phrase I kept hearing from my guest beside me. In fact, we both sounded like broken records! The Greek salad was generous and freshly prepared, with a big chunk of feta perched on top. The tzatziki, with its flecks of fresh cucumber showing through and an olive on top, was finished with swirls of olive oil. The fava dip offered freshness once more — bright yellow in colour, topped with a couple of capers and red onion. I was pleased to discover that I could eat well here for lunch.
Mr Blue also offers dinner, of course, and the hotel itself makes fresh pizzas on site (which look great), available to eat there or take away. If the lunch was anything to go by, I’m sure the quality is consistent, and you can rely on this place for good food at any time of day. Oh, and P.S.: they also make their own desserts.
