Whenever I am staying in a hotel, it is always interesting for me to compare the in-room breakfast and in-room dining in general. This part is quite important, because if you don’t have decent food in this area, it can throw off the entire stay. Some people don’t care for this; they will go outside every morning to a new brunch place or take a simple factory produced croissant in a random café. Not me. I want to know if I can stay in the comfort of my own room and be satisfied with what is on offer. Because at the end of the day, you are paying for that. I can confirm that everything is made to a good standard, the service is polite and helpful. My eggs were served warm with a runny yolk as expected. A lot of places end up serving you cold eggs which is not pleasant, by the time they reach you they are not that warm- Here they addressed this. The avocado well prepared with a good kick of citrus in there to bring some zing and to stop it from browning, and it had the right amount of ‘smash.’ Chunky enough for texture and not mashed down too much resembling baby food. The orange juice was one of the nicest I have had in a hotel- Extremely sweet.

This consistency was kept during the stay, along with a Sunday brunch we created including French toast and pastries, that were especially delicious. I can give it all a thumbs up. I sometimes took a lunch to test this out, it was not bad, but I recommend going down to the restaurant instead of ordering in-room. My soup was not warm enough when it arrived and when ordering from the main restaurant menu ‘in-room,’ the portions seemed too small for the cost. This is typical in capital city palace hotels, but I still feel the need to mention it every-time. You might have a better experience downstairs.

Our Sunday burger night approached and was another chance to see how the kitchen was coping in this department. The burger patty itself unfortunately was under-seasoned with the burger lacking sauce inside. The chips excellent and crisp, they clearly know how to prepare and cook them. We took it gluten free also, and it was not the usual stodgy, ‘make do substitution.’ The cookery of the burger was spot-on; however it was quite dry and lean, it had no fat which meant the flavour was lacking quite drastically. We have a feeling it could have been fillet; therefore, it would have made sense to go for a wagyu fillet in this case. It definitely, wasn’t the best burger I ever had, and the fillings inside need to be rethought.

Overall, the food was well over satisfactory, especially the breakfast which is where they are excelling. Always desirable, as this is my most important/favourite meal of the day. Keep it up Bulgari, Milan.
